Eli's fashion show, Oct. 2012

Eli was blessed again to be in a vintage fashion show. Lynn Gough, a local vintage costumer had a show of special occasions dresses. Each model volunteers their time. Lynn's fashions are often shown at senior centers or other locales that people would enjoy them. Eli has a love of design and often designs her own crafts for dolls, gifts, and many other items; so she really enjoys participating in these shows. The dresses are in order of year. What a fun family day this was. I look forward to other fashion shows Lynn will in the
Eli wearing Lynn's oldest piece. This was a mourning dress from 1865, for after Abe Lincoln was shot. It was a bit small on Eli, and she didn't have to wear a corset. She said it was hard to breathe it. I bet it was! The hat was handmade with horse hair, and the shoes were lace up from the same time period.  The gloves were hand crocheted lace. Wow, what they did for dresses back then so amazes me.

1890's wedding dress. All hand stitched, and original. I believe it was Lynn's grandmothers, or someone in her family. You have to see it to see how lovely it is.

1900 walking dress, to uptown, or out an about. The hat has feather boas, and this would be worn to go visiting someone.

1910.

1920 flapper dress and boa. The last time she wore this she used a fake cigarette. It was cute.

1930s, the back was opened in a slit style for these dresses back then. This was used to go to dinner or a dance. The gloves are used for most outfits through the 1940s.

1930s. This dress reminded me of the witch on Snow White. The heavy collar was popular then. Both of these dresses were crushed velvet, very soft.

1940s dress. This dress could be worn out, maybe at a dance.

1940s, billowy and lightweight. A dance dress.

1950s party dress. The boa was lovely with this.

1950s going out dress. The lady sitting owned this dress and wore it at dinner after her 2nd baby was born. The stole was a real mink. I thought the fur from the legs and tail humorous.

1950s cocktail before bed dress. She has a martini glass. I remember seeing these on TV in the 70s so they may have been worn until then. How glamorous before bed!

Eli-1960s prom or junior prom dress. This was a new edition to Lynn's collection, and the first time it was worn. Eli's dress had sequins on the dress (mother of pearl), and on the matching sweater. The gloves were so lovely, and the slippers, pumps were plastic see through. The hat was sequined as well, and placed with pins.

1960s visiting dress. I remember this shade of purple. I think my mom's prom dress from the 1950's was this color purple, or maybe my sister's from 1970s. Lovely dress with a wool overcoat, silver purse, and matching silver shoes.

1960s or 1970s-flowing, trailing evening gown. This concept dress was from a Japanese designer. If the person didn't keep moving, the arm fabric would touch the ground. This gal also put the arm fabric while crossing her arms, and kept the material off the ground.

1950s or 1960s light blue dress w/ fake fur coat. The purse was plastic, the hat matched the coat, and the shoes were see through. I remember my mom having a fake fur coat in the 70s!
